Hezbollah MP: We trust our allies, we will defeat Israel aggression
Member of Parliament Hussein Hajj Hassan spoke to Al Mayadeen about ceasefire talks, Israeli aggression, and other developments.
The Israeli regime "miscalculated" the effects that its strikes against the Resistance in Lebanon would have, Lebanese Member of Parliament and member of Hezbollah's Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, Hussein Hajj Hassan, told Al Mayadeen in an interview.
Hezbollah "has begun to inflict pain on the occupation," Hajj Hassan explained.
"The enemy miscalculated by believing that the Resistance would be destabilized and collapse as a result of the assassinations and strikes," the lawmaker stressed.
Hajj Hassan indicated that there is nothing concrete to rely on regarding a potential ceasefire, noting the efforts of the Speaker of the Parliament of Lebanon, Nabih Berri.
The representative underlined that American officials and their "assurances" cannot be trusted.
"We do not trust American assurances because we are facing a treacherous enemy ('Israel')," the former minister added.
Expanding on this point, Haj Hassan emphasized that the American administration has been "completely biased" in its positions, consistently favoring the Israeli regime. He argued that, given this imbalance, Washington's assurances cannot instill any sense of security.
"We trust our allies and our people, and we will defeat this aggression despite the significant sacrifices," he underlined.
When asked about linking the fate of the Lebanese front to that of Gaza, Hajj Hassan said that the Islamic Resistance has made the Palestinian cause and supporting Gaza a top priority, as highlighted in the speech of Deputy Secretary-General, Sheikh Naim Qassem.
"Our primary responsibility is to confront and stop the Israeli aggression, and the Resistance will do what is necessary to protect the Lebanese people," he concluded.
For weeks now, the Israeli regime has engaged in attempts to infiltrate Lebanese towns, failing on multiple occasions to advance more than a few hundred meters past the Palestinian-Lebanese border.
Meanwhile and preceding the ground invasion, the Israeli Air Force has launched destructive airstrikes that have toppled residential areas and destroyed vital infrastructure.
On the other hand, the Resistance continues to confront the Israeli regime, recovering from the initial round of strikes and launching unprecedented long-range attacks.
