Hezbollah operations quadrupled in October: Israeli Alma Institute
The Israeli Alma Institute conducted an analysis of the operations launched by Hezbollah against Israeli targets in October. What do the numbers reveal?
An analysis from the Israeli Alma Institute has revealed a significant surge in operations launched by Hezbollah in the face of "Israel", with the frequency increasing by a staggering fourfold in October.
According to details reported by the Israeli newspaper Maariv, Hezbollah executed a total of 1,158 operations against "Israel" throughout the month, marking a dramatic escalation.
Researchers Tal Barry and Dana Pollack reported that, after analyzing data from the onset of the attacks in October 2023 through October 2024, a total of 3,235 operations were recorded. This amounts to an average of approximately 270 attacks per month, highlighting a sustained pattern of operations.
The Institute noted that "the attacks increased roughly four times the monthly average, signaling a dangerous escalation that unfolded throughout this month."
Drones emerge as a significant asset for Hezbollah
Researchers revealed that in October, around 54 Israelis, including 40 soldiers, were killed.
The analysis indicated that 54% of the operations were aimed at settlements located within 5 kilometers of the border, while Hezbollah also carried out 296 attacks beyond this range—reflecting a notable increase compared to previous months.
Regarding the drone attacks, the Alma Institute noted that Hezbollah’s drones serve as a crucial advantage, stating that one drone "brings hundreds of thousands of civilians into shelters and engages all layers of Israel’s defense."
"With the use of one such single UAV, Hezbollah creates a narrative of victory and attrition," it asserted.
Concerning the barrages of rockets and missiles, Alma Institute revealed that "we know of at least 2,291 rockets and missiles that crossed Israeli territory in October 2024," based on IOF daily data, asserting that there are additional operations that are not included.
