Local sources in the al-Hasaka governorate have reported that "heavy explosions rocked the US base at the town of Kharab al-Jir, which is 5 km distant from the al-Yaarubiyah crossing with Iraq, at dawn on Tuesday, November 23, after 4 shells landed, the source of which is still unknown."
The sources described the explosions as powerful, adding that their echoes were heard throughout the northeastern border region between Syria and Iraq.
Immediately after the targeting of the US base, the sky of the region witnessed a heavy flight of helicopters and warplanes of the US occupation forces, according to the sources.
The sources added that "Khrab al-Jir base is considered the second illegal base of the US occupation in Syria. It was established in 2015 after the confiscation of large agricultural areas from farmers in the village. It is an airbase that has a runway for the landing of helicopters and planes."
The bases of the American occupation in the al-Omar oil and Conoco gas fields in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor and Kharab Al-Jir in the al-Hasaka countryside have been subjected to several missile attacks during the past two months, amid a blackout from the occupation forces over their losses.
The US occupation forces have established bases in several areas of the East of Syria, especially in oil and gas fields. The natural resources are being stolen and smuggled abroad using large convoys of tankers, in coordination with the SDF.
