Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi is set to visit Algeria next Saturday for the first time in 14 years to participate at the seventh summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), IRNA reported.

The Iranian President is scheduled to continue his state visit to Algeria following the conclusion of the summit. He will reportedly engage in bilateral discussions with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and participate in the signing of cooperation agreements across various economic and cultural sectors.

Moreover, the two leaders will oversee the proceedings of the Algerian-Iranian High Joint Commission with the foreign ministers of both nations, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Ahmed Attaf, in attendance.

Earlier agreements between the two countries include the elimination of diplomatic visa requirements as an initial step toward removing regular service visas to enhance relations. They have also committed to accelerating collaboration in science, technology, knowledge-based enterprises, agriculture, medicine, medical equipment, industry, and mining.

Iranian-Algerian relations have been constructively developing over the past years.

Algeria is getting ready to host the seventh summit of heads of state and governments of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, scheduled to take place from February 29 to March 2, 2024.

It is worth noting that the annual Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit brings together heads of state and government from member nations to engage in discussions about global gas industry matters, encompassing market dynamics, challenges, and prospects.

Iran is slated to host the GECF summit in 2027.
