Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani stated on Tuesday that upcoming talks with the United States will start indirectly and at a high level, responding to questions about whether negotiations would be held directly.
She emphasized that Iran’s priority is to pursue its national interests through balanced negotiations, expressing hope that the dialogue would be thoughtful and serve the Iranian people.
When asked again about the possibility of direct talks, Mohajerani said, “The talks must begin to see where they lead.”
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Twitter that Iran and the US will hold indirect high-level talks in Oman on April 12, contradicting US President Donald Trump’s earlier claims about direct negotiations.
"It's as much an opportunity as it is a test," he added.

It is as much an opportunity as it is a test. The ball is in America's court.
US President Donald Trump stated on Monday that the United States would engage in "direct talks with Iran" over its nuclear program.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Oval Office at the White House, Trump said, "We're having direct talks with Iran, and they've started. It'll go on Saturday. We have a very big meeting, and we'll see what can happen. And I think everybody agrees that doing a deal would be preferable," he told reporters.
