"Intelligence Failure"; Yedioth Ahronoth Reveals Details about the Prisoners' Breakout
An Israeli newspaper reveals yet another Israeli intelligence failure regarding the breakout of the six Palestinian prisoners from Gilboa prison, at dawn last Monday.
An Israeli newspaper revealed on Tuesday a new Israeli intelligence failure regarding the breakout of the six Palestinian prisoners from Gilboa prison, at dawn last Monday.
Yedioth Ahronoth reported that 10 Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli Gilboa prison were aware of a tunnel being dug there in preparation for some prisoners' escape or the escape plan, without the knowledge of the Israeli intelligence itself.
It highlighted that the Israeli intelligence's lack of knowledge of the escape plan although some Palestinian prisoners knew reflects a major intelligence failure within the prison service. Moreover, the driver of the sewage vehicle that empties the sewage from Gilboa Prison informed the officials of the presence of quantities of sand in the sewage system, which was not taken into account by the jailers.
About a week ago, 6 Palestinian prisoners liberated themselves from the Gilboa prison near the occupied city of Bisan, at dawn on Monday. This prison is considered one of the most fortified prisons of the Israeli occupation.
According to Israeli media, the prisoners who were able to break out of prison through a tunnel are Zakaria al-Zubaidi, Munadel Yaqoub Nafi'at, Mohammed Qassem al-Arida, Yaqoub Mahmoud Qadri, Ayham Fouad Kamamji, Mahmoud Abdullah al-Arida, knowing that the last five are members of the Islamic Jihad Movement.
But a few days later, the occupation forces arrested 4 of the liberated prisoners from Gilboa Prison in the Al-Tur area and in the Al-Qafzeh Mountain area in the occupied city of Nazareth.
