Many Arab activists used the hashtag #Except_Messenger_God_Ya_Modi to condemn disrespectful and blasphemous remarks made by a spokesperson for India's ruling BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, against Prophet Muhammad, amid demands for a boycott of India.

On June 1, BJP spokesperson Naveen Kumar Jindal tweeted on his official account on Twitter, asking why Prophet Muhammad married Aisha when she was not 20 years old yet.

This tweet infuriated Muslims around the world because the Indian politician's remarks crossed the line, especially because India is experiencing an unprecedented wave of intolerance and pressure on Muslims.

The decision to prohibit the wearing of headscarves in schools and educational institutions, as well as the demolition of Muslim property, have all drawn widespread outrage.

For years, far-right Hindus have been clamoring for violence online, but it has just recently hit the streets.
