Interpol Lifts Ban Off Syria
Interpol's ban on Syria has been lifted... the announcement comes through the Head of Syria's Criminal Security Department.
The Head of Syria's Criminal Security Department, Hussein Jomaa, revealed that the Executive Committee at Interpol's General Secretariat has lifted its ban on Syria with regards to Interpol matters, restoring to the Damascus office all its authorities. He also highlighted that they are currently waiting for the Damascus office's services to be reactivated.
Jomaa announced that a delegation from International Interpol's General Secretariat will visit Damascus next month, headed by the former's Counterterrorism Office Director and a number of trainers. The visit will also include a workshop on Interpol's newest software.
Jomaa noted that one of the most important features of the ban lifting is that the Damascus office can now provide Interpol services for other government organizations, such as immigration, passports, customs, and border crossings to tackle vehicle smuggling, as well as other services thanks to its linkage to the international fingerprint database. The lifting of the ban will greatly facilitate communication and services, especially with the Interpol's General Secretariat.
