IOF officer, 2 soldiers injured in IED explosion in South Lebanon
This comes as the Israeli military continues to violate the terms of the ceasefire, razing whole towns to the ground and bulldozing lands to obstruct the return of displaced residents to their homes.
An Israeli officer and two soldiers were injured after a D-9 bulldozer ran over an explosive device in southern Lebanon, Israeli media reported on Saturday.
The injured soldiers were transported to the hospital for medical treatment, and their families have been notified, the media added.
In a similar yet more fatal incident in December 2024, Israeli media revealed that three Israeli soldiers from the 146th Brigade were killed and several others were injured after a landmine exploded in Ras al-Naqoura.
In a related context, Israeli media reported that the Israeli military is on high alert ahead of the expiration of the 60-day deadline set for the complete withdrawal of its forces from southern Lebanon as per the terms of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, in effect since November 27, 2024.
Under the ceasefire agreement, the Lebanese Army is required to deploy alongside UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon as the Israeli military completes its withdrawal over a 60-day period.
Hezbollah is obligated to pull its forces back north of the Litani River, approximately 30 kilometers (20 miles) from the border, and dismantle any remaining military infrastructure in the south.
On Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that "Israel" will not meet the 60-day deadline for its full withdrawal from southern Lebanon, set for Sunday, January 26, as stipulated in the ceasefire agreement.
This comes as the Israeli military continues to violate the terms of the ceasefire, razing whole towns to the ground and bulldozing lands to obstruct the return of displaced residents to their homes in southern Lebanon.
Israeli forces escalate their aggression to unprecedented level
Earlier, the Israeli occupation forces carried out a mass demolition attack in the town of Kfar Kila, according to Al Mayadeen's correspondent in southern Lebanon.
Our correspondent further reported the retreat of Israeli tanks from Wadi al-Slouqi after blocking all roads leading to the eastern sector. In the past hours, Israeli forces escalated their aggression to an unprecedented level not seen in two months, she highlighted.

The occupation forces have been bulldozing farmers’ tents in Wadi al-Slouqi, raiding civilian homes in the western neighborhood overlooking the valley, and cutting off roads leading to southern villages to prevent residents from returning tomorrow.
Additionally, Al Mayadeen captured the arrival of a senior Israeli delegation at the Doubey fortress between the towns of Shaqra and Mays al-Jabal in southern Lebanon.
Israeli forces have sealed all routes leading to the border area in the eastern sector and continue to bulldoze roads in Wadi al-Slouqi, particularly at the intersections of Qabrikha and Bani Hayyan, with two Merkava tanks and an Israeli bulldozer participating in the operation.
The occupation forces also conducted incursions into several border towns, including the outskirts of Kfar Chouba, the western edges of Houla, and Tallousa near the entrance to Wadi al-Slouqi, according to our correspondent.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese Army confirmed its ongoing efforts to implement its deployment plan south of the Litani River, as mandated by the government.
The army announced that its soldiers have deployed in the towns of al-Qawzah, Debel, Hanin, and Beit Lif–Bint Jbeil in the central sector of southern Lebanon following the withdrawal of Israeli forces.
