Iran, Iraq urge ceasefire, slam US military, intel aid to 'Israel'
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi notes that the US claim about working for a ceasefire in Gaza is false as proven by its actions.
In a joint press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani in Tehran, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi relayed that both nations agree that the bombing of Gaza must end and a ceasefire should be implemented, as US weapons sent to "Israel" are aiding in the genocide.
Raisi noted that the US claim about working for a ceasefire in Gaza is false as proven by its actions, while "Israel" continues to collapse after being defeated by the Palestinian Resistance.
He added that the US is aiming to brush this shame under the rug by helping "Israel" commit genocide supported by European nations.
"We cooperate and support any action by Islamic countries, at the regional and international level, to prevent the Zionist regime and the American governing body from killing the innocent, oppressed people of Gaza," he said.
This follows Iranian Defense Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani's warning on Sunday that Iran would launch a "serious strike" on the United States in the event that the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip does not cease.
According to Tasnim, the brigadier general stated that Iran's advice to the US is to end the war "immediately" and "ensure a ceasefire."
Ashtiani warned that if this is not implemented, the US will "face a serious strike."
Long overdue
Meanwhile, for his part, the Iraqi Prime Minister stressed "the firm and principled position of Iraq in relation to the Palestinian issue and the struggle of the Palestinian people to realize their freedom and form an independent state with the capital of holy Quds."
Al-Sudani emphasized that the ongoing crisis did not flare up in light of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7 but is the result of Israeli crimes against Palestine through forced displacement, settlement policies, and desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
"Today, we talked about the privileged bilateral relations between Iran and Iraq. We witnessed that these relations have grown and expanded in many fields, so it will certainly benefit both Muslims and neighboring countries," al-Sudani stated.
It is worth noting that the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has not sat still after announcing that it targeted a vital site of the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in "Eilat" (Umm Rashrash) in solidarity with Gaza, which has been facing ongoing Israeli aggression for 28 days, and in response to the Israeli massacres against Palestinians.
In a statement, it affirmed its determination to strike the enemy's strongholds.

In a separate context, speaking on the Tehran-Baghdad security agreement, the Iraqi President said, "Fortunately, we witnessed that the security committee between Iran and Iraq succeeded in fulfilling its obligations regarding the border areas and places that created tension on the border and eliminated these tensions."
