Iran and Oman have signed 18 memoranda of understanding across various fields during Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's official two-day visit to Muscat, marking a significant development in Iran Oman relations.
The agreements, formalized during the Iran-Oman Joint Economic Committee on Tuesday, span a wide array of areas including legal, economic, political, cultural, educational, health, defense, media, technology, energy, and mining. The signing ceremony underscores the strategic depth and expanding scope of economic cooperation between Iran and Oman, with both sides emphasizing long-term regional stability and prosperity.
In a symbolic cultural gesture, both countries unveiled a commemorative joint postage stamp, reflecting the historical and civilizational bonds that underpin Iran-Oman relations.
President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Muscat on Tuesday at the invitation of Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. Upon arrival at Muscat International Airport, he was welcomed with an official ceremony, followed by a meeting with the Sultan and a joint session between high-ranking delegations from both sides.
During the session, Pezeshkian praised Oman’s "active and constructive role" in the ongoing indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, indicating that Tehran remains committed to enhancing diplomacy through regional mediation channels. He reiterated Iran’s readiness to deepen cooperation, stating that the two nations "possess capabilities that can be employed for the well-being and progress of the two nations as well as that of other regional nations."
"We are ready to do whatever is within our capability for the dignity and greatness of Muslims. Each of us has capacities that can be employed for the well-being and progress of one another and of other nations in the region," he emphasized.

He also called for enhanced cooperation in logistics and energy, asserting that relations between Iranian and Omani ports must be developed, noting the commercial importance of Iran’s North-South rail connectivity.
"The rail capacity from northern to southern Iran is of great commercial importance to us," he said, stressing the need for stronger support in energy sector collaboration.
Cultural symbolism marks deepening Iran-Oman ties
Moreover, the unveiling of the joint postage stamp added a cultural dimension to the visit, reinforcing the narrative of shared heritage between the two nations. This symbolic initiative, although modest in scale, echoes a broader intent to foster people-to-people connections and cultural diplomacy.
Pezeshkian’s trip to Oman is his tenth foreign visit since assuming office, and it signals Iran’s continued emphasis on strengthening regional partnerships, particularly with Gulf neighbors willing to engage constructively amid wider geopolitical tensions.
