Iran, Syria to boost cooperation, bilateral ties
The Iranian President congratulated the Syrian President on Evacuation Day.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi congratulated Syria on its April 17 Evacuation Day, a day that commemorates the expulsion of the very last French soldier from Syrian land. Raisi, furthermore, expressed confidence in boosting cooperation between Iran and Syria, in addition to contributing to regional peace and calm.
On Sunday, Raisi congratulated Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad on Syria's Evacuation Day, asserting confidence in developing and improving bilateral relations in all fields, in addition to employing great capacities and capabilities to establish peace and development.
In March, in a meeting between the Iranian foreign minister's senior advisor and Al-Assad, the need to continue consultations between the two countries, particularly at turning points in regional developments, was expressed.

Continuation of cooperation between Syria and Iran
Last month, Al-Assad and Amir-Abdollahian discussed the cooperation files between their countries and the efforts made by the two sides to follow up on the implementation of bilateral agreements, especially in the economic and commercial fields.
The meeting also dealt with the continuation of cooperation between the two countries in the field of combating terrorism, as Amir-Abdollahian reiterated his country's support for Syria and its people until the liberation of all Syrian territories.
The Iranian minister briefed Al-Assad on the ongoing Vienna talks, noting that his country has made initiatives in this regard in line with the rights and interests of the Iranian people, stressing that reaching an agreement requires a serious will from Western parties.
Al-Assad: Iran is taking the right pass
For his part, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad had affirmed the correctness of the path that Iran is taking through its adherence to principles and rights, and not compromising in the face of the pressures it is subjected to.
He noted that reaching an agreement in Vienna has become more important to serve the interests of Iran, the region, and the global balance.
The two discussed Russia's special military operation in Ukraine, where they agreed on the importance of stabilizing international relations amid Western attempts to threaten peace and international security.
It was also agreed on the importance of intensifying communication between Syria and Iran in the midst of the changes taking place at this critical stage the world is going through.
Iran's support for Syria
Iran's Foreign Minister hailed his country's relations with Syria and reiterated Tehran's support for Damascus.
Upon his arrival in the Syrian capital, Amir-Abdollahian stressed Iran's support for the Syrian leadership and its people.
For his part, Syria's Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad pointed out that this visit "is another opportunity for us, as has been the case over the past years, to consult on matters that concern our two countries and the latest developments in the region."
