Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, reaffirmed Tehran’s support for any initiative backed by the Palestinian people to end "Israel’s" genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
Speaking during an open parliamentary session on Sunday, Ghalibaf emphasized that the Islamic Republic fully supports efforts aligned with the will of Palestinians, stressing that such moves must prioritize ending "Israel’s" aggression and lifting the long-standing blockade on Gaza.
His remarks came two days after a US-mediated ceasefire deal came into effect between "Israel" and the Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas. The agreement included a prisoner exchange, the withdrawal of occupation forces to a pre-agreed point in Gaza, and the delivery of humanitarian aid into the besieged territory.
He also stressed that crossings into Gaza must be reopened for the uninterrupted flow of food, medicine, and essential supplies.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran supports any initiative, which is supported by the Palestinian people, to end the war crimes and genocide in Gaza,” he said.
Resistance, humanitarian demands, and Iranian policy
The senior Iranian official noted that the ceasefire is a significant setback to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s stated goals, which included eliminating Hamas and rescuing captives through military force.
“After two years of genocide, famine, and the killing of women and children, the steadfastness of people in Gaza and the support of the Axis of Resistance forced the world to rise against the 21st-century Nazis and ultimately compel the US and the [Israeli] regime to accept defeat and sign a ceasefire that secured none of their declared objectives,” Ghalibaf stated.
He added that the Palestinian resistance, despite facing immense human losses, succeeded in imposing its demands on "Israel."
Israeli war criminals must be prosecuted
Ghalibaf called on international governments and courts to prosecute Israeli officials responsible for war crimes in Gaza, emphasizing that justice must be pursued for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
“The Palestinian nation and the Axis of Resistance are vigilant and stand ready to respond in kind to any deceptive act or practice that violates the Gaza truce agreement,” he said.
