Iran condemns Beirut strikes, labels them war crimes
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expresses solidarity with Lebanon’s government and people, describing the Israeli aggression as a "heinous war crime".
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi affirmed Saturday that the Israeli aggression on the southern suburbs of Beirut constitutes a war crime and a crime against humanity.
He also expressed his sympathy with Lebanon's government and people in the face of what he termed a "heinous war crime."
Furthermore, Araghchi highlighted that the recent aggression underscores "the Zionist entity's role as the most significant threat to both regional and international peace and security."
He reaffirmed Iran's commitment to supporting the Lebanese people and the broader Axis of Resistance, signaling solidarity in the face of ongoing aggression.
Araghchi added that "the nature of the illegitimate and fraudulent Zionist entity is based on terrorizing and killing innocents, especially women and children."
The Iranian foreign minister also called on the United Nations Security Council to put an end to its indifference and inaction by taking "serious measures to halt the Zionist killing machine."
He urged the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to convene an extraordinary meeting of the organization's leaders as soon as possible to address this situation.
Iran criticizes international inaction
On his part, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani underscored the international community's failure, particularly that of the United Nations Security Council, to take action against the brutal crimes committed by "Israel" in Palestine and Lebanon.
He emphasized that this inaction highlights the critical role of the people in these regions in defending themselves against the Zionist killing machine.
