Iran has firmly denied accusations made by US and Israeli officials alleging that Tehran plotted to assassinate the Israeli ambassador to Mexico, calling the claims a “media fabrication and blatant lie.”
In a post published Friday on its official X account, the Iranian Embassy in Mexico rejected the allegations, stating that they were “aimed at damaging the long-standing and friendly relations between Iran and Mexico.” The embassy strongly condemned the claims and emphasized that this is not the first attempt to harm Iran’s international relations through false reporting.
A pattern of fabricated accusations
In a series of additional posts, the Iranian Embassy highlighted that Iran and Mexico “share common interests” and stressed that full respect for Mexican laws remains a top priority.
“The security and reputation of Mexico are also the security and reputation of Iran,” the statement read. “We would never betray the trust placed in us by the Mexican government. We will never tarnish the positive image of our Mexican friends. Any betrayal of Mexico’s interests is a betrayal of our own.”

Tehran also dismissed accusations of anti-Semitism as “a blatant lie fabricated by the Israeli occupation,” pointing to the presence of over 100 synagogues in Iran, all open to the public and requiring no security guards.
It further noted that no incidents of verbal harassment toward the country’s sizable Jewish community were reported, even during the Israeli aggression on Iran in June.

Mexico denies assassination plot
The Iranian statements followed claims by US and Israeli officials accusing Iran of attempting to assassinate “Israel’s” ambassador to Mexico, Einat Kranz-Neiger. However, the Mexican government rejected these accusations outright.
In a joint statement issued Friday, Mexico’s Foreign Ministry and Security Ministry confirmed that they had “no reports regarding any alleged assassination attempt” against the Israeli ambassador.
Despite this denial, unnamed US and Israeli officials told the Associated Press that Mexican authorities, aided by US and Israeli intelligence agencies, allegedly foiled a plot by Iran to target the ambassador. No specific details were provided on how the alleged plot was uncovered or prevented.
