Iran willing to establish friendly relations with neighbors: MFA
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson says that Iran is willing to establish relations with any country on the basis of mutual respect and common interests.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, reiterated Iran’s willingness to establish friendly relations with any country on the basis of mutual respect and common interests.
Kanaani addressed reporters in a weekly presser on Monday, where he described the Islamic Republic as a nation of countless capacities and potentials.
Kanaani pointed to global developments as key factors in changing the old international order and the security arrangements that were attributed to it.
Iran took this opportunity of evolving international relations to realize the interest of its people.
The Iranian official highlighted the reestablishment of diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia as a key event in which Tehran has worked with regional and international developments to establish new ties.
He also looked forward to the future implementation of different political, economic, and public relations agreements that would progress previously broken relations between the two countries.
Kanaani confirmed that President Ebrahim Raisi accepted an invitation from King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and has returned the invitation to the Saudi Monarch.
He then pointed to the fact that the major diplomatic efforts taken by the two countries have no special connection to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Samarkand summit
Kanaani added that Iran will work to enhance the security situation in Afghanistan through regional frameworks and multilateral meetings. He referenced the fourth meeting of Afghanistan's neighboring nations, which was held in Samarkand with the participation of foreign ministers and officials from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia, China, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan.
The official stated that Iran’s strategy on this issue is intelligent and aims to bolster the security of both Iran and its neighbor Afghanistan.
On Iran and Azerbaijan
The ties between the two countries have deteriorated recently, and Kanaani said that the Azeris should identify the enemies they hold in common with Iran. One of which is ‘Israel’ which aims to separate the two Muslim countries.
According to the official, the Israeli occupation has fueled instability and disputes in relation to Iran-Azerbaijan relations as well as his country’s ties with other Islamic nations.
Kanaani stressed Tehran’s goodwill when dealing with its neighbors adding that the Islamic Republic harbors friendly relations and mutual respect.
