Iran has no role in shaping the national policies of any faction within the Resistance Front, including Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Commander, Major General Hossein Salami, stated on Sunday.
According to Salami, the Yemeni people are independent, have their own policies, and make strategic decisions on their own.
In a warning to Iran’s adversaries, Salami stressed that any practical threat against Iran would be met with a firm and devastating response from the country.
He also pointed out that Iran is transparent about its operations and openly declares its support, reaffirming that the country takes full responsibility for its actions.
His remarks come after the US-UK aggression on Yemen, which struck the capital Sanaa several times on Saturday through Sunday morning following the reinstatement of Yemen's ban on Israeli ships passing through designated areas.
Several air raids launched by the US-UK coalition targeted a residential neighborhood in the Sha'ub district, north of the capital, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported.
The aggression, according to the Yemeni Health Ministry spokesman, Anis al-Asbahi, who spoke with Al Mayadeen, led to the martyrdom and injury of 132 civilians. The toll, which includes numerous women and children, is expected to rise in the aftermath of the aggression.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the airstrikes, calling them a violation of the principles of the United Nations Charter.
In a statement, the ministry asserted that continued US-British-backed killing and occupation in occupied Palestine is a key factor fueling insecurity in the region.
