Iran practiced legitimate right against 'Israel': Jordanian coalition
The coalition of nationalist and leftist parties in Jordan renewes its demands to shut down NATO military bases on Jordanian soil.
The coalition of nationalist and leftist parties in Jordan condemned the crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, expressing pride in the courageous resistance and legendary steadfastness of the invincible Palestinian people.
In a statement, the coalition affirmed the right of the Jordanian people and their popular movement to continue to express their supportive stance alongside the Palestinian people and their national cause.
The statement valued the significant efforts and all forms of ongoing Arab and international support, calling for the continuation of such efforts and confronting the genocide, ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement carried out by the Israeli occupation and its allies in the United States and NATO.
Touching on Iran's retaliatory attack, Operation True Promise, against Israeli targets, the coalition considered the Iranian response a legitimate right to confront Israeli arrogance and the repeated aggression on the sovereignty of nations.
The coalition indicated that this response provided significant support to the Palestinian Resistance and to the Palestinian people, who are under a total siege and facing Arab and international complicity and a genocide war unparalleled in modern history.
The statement expressed the coalition's categorical rejection of any violation of Jordan's national sovereignty and renewed its demands to shut down NATO military bases on Jordanian soil to safeguard the country's role and decision-making, away from the use of these bases by colonial states in favor of the Israeli occupation.
Elsewhere, the coalition emphasized that Jordan is not immune from Zionist ambitions, especially after the Israeli usurpation measures of the Jordan Valley, which pose a direct threat to the country's sovereignty.
Jordanian leader faces backlash
Recently, the Jordanian leadership faced backlash after Amman publicly confirmed its role in intercepting the Iranian missiles and drones launched toward Israeli targets in occupied Palestine.
French President Emmanuel Macron also said on Monday that his country intercepted the Iranian missiles and drones "at Jordan's request."
"Let me be very clear — we will do the same, regardless where those drones are from: from Israel, from Iran and from anybody else," Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi underlined, justifying its actions as necessary to "ensure" the well-being of its citizens.
According to the Financial Times, Jordan has taken part since 2022, along with "Israel" and some Arab countries, in the US-led so-called Middle East Air Defense Alliance, whose radars reportedly tracked the Iranian drones and missiles.
It is noteworthy that in recent weeks, the Jordanian capital has been witnessing massive demonstrations in solidarity with Gaza in the vicinity of the Israeli occupation embassy amid the ongoing Israeli aggression on the besieged Strip.
The demonstrators urged the Jordanian government to halt all kinds of ties with "Israel" from the Wadi Araba agreement to the water-for-energy agreement, as well as the gas agreement, among others.
They further condemned the export of vegetables to "Israel" and the participation in the land bridge that would leave a window open for the Israeli occupation to transport goods amid the ongoing Yemeni operations in the Red Sea.
They also praised the Resistance in Yemen, Lebanon, and Iraq for all their efforts in supporting the Palestinian Resistance during the Israeli war on Gaza.
The protesters insisted that they would continue to take to the streets until all diplomatic ties with the Israeli occupation were severed and the Israeli embassy in Jordan was shut down, even if the war came to an end.
