Iran reacts to Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan; China lauds Iran's support
Chinese ambassador to Tehran appreciates Iran's consistent adherence to the one-China principle.
On Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani commented on the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan by saying that respect for other countries' national sovereignty is one of the key principles of the UN Charter.
Kanaani mentioned Article 2 of the UN Charter, which prohibits member states from carrying out any behavior that would harm the territorial integrity and political independence of other countries.
Referring to Iran's respect for the integrity of other countries' territories, the spokesman said that supporting the One China Policy is one of Iran’s indisputable foreign policies.
The recent tension-inducing behavior by the US officials in interfering in the internal affairs of China and violation of its territorial integrity is an example of the US intervention in different parts of the world which does nothing but increase instability and fuel the differences, he said, adding that unilateralism and violation of international laws have become a regular practice in the US foreign policy.

Kanaani added that the US withdrawal from multilateral agreements, including the JCPOA, and imposing illegal and inhumane sanctions against Iran is clear proof that it does not comply with its commitments.
