Iran once again condemned the stances of the United States and the E3 over Tehran's nuclear program, emphasizing that they are undermining international law and the United Nations' credibility.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran is ready to be transparent about its stockpile of highly enriched uranium and has no plans to leave the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, despite what he described as an extremely high level of distrust with the United States.
Meanwhile, addressing the UN Security Council, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held the United States responsible for a "betrayal of diplomacy," a move which he said was subsequently "buried" by the E3 - France, Germany, and Britain.
Araghchi emphasized that the Russian-Chinese draft resolution represented a responsible step to avoid escalation and create an opening for diplomacy. He added that the US and E3's rejection of the draft had deepened divisions within the Council and squandered chances for a diplomatic solution, warning that any reimposition of sanctions through this "illegitimate mechanism" would undermine the UN's credibility.
The Iranian FM further stated that the United States and the E3 are responsible for the consequences of the day's decision and have paved the way for escalation, while calling on them to change course. Additionally, he called on the UN Secretary-General to refrain from any attempt to reactivate the sanctions-related mechanisms within the Secretariat.
Military solution failed, diplomacy only possible option
The military solution has failed, Araghchi emphasized, predicting the same outcome from the snapback mechanism, insisting that dialogue is the only solution and that Iran will not submit to pressure.
He explained, "I came to New York to give diplomacy new opportunities, but I am sorry that the proposals I presented were met with rejection," and warned that "the decision to activate the sanctions will affect the agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency."
Araghchi concluded, "Diplomacy will not die, but it will be more difficult and complex than before."
Iranian Foreign Ministry affirms commitment to peaceful nuclear activity
Meanwhile, the Iranian Foreign Ministry published a statement on X, reasserting Tehran's commitment to peaceful nuclear activities, while condemning the double standard Iran is facing.
As a reminder on the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons: #Iran—committed and transparent—has for years remained under the strict scrutiny of the IAEA, with no deviation from its exclusively peaceful nuclear activities.

"As a reminder on the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons: #Iran—committed and transparent—has for years remained under the strict scrutiny of the IAEA, with no deviation from its exclusively peaceful nuclear activities," the statement reads.
It notes that "the very actors that maintain vast stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction choose, instead of fulfilling their disarmament obligations, to carry out acts of sabotage and attack against our peaceful facilities."
"What does the conscience of the international community say when those possessing thousands of nuclear warheads, particularly the #UnitedStates, stigmatize and threaten a nation whose sole pursuit is the peaceful use of nuclear technology?" the Iranian Foreign Ministry added.
Concluding its statement, the statement emphasizes that Iran remains committed to its "inalienable right" to the peaceful use of nuclear energy, calling the world to stand up to the blatant double standard against Tehran.
Iran recalls E3 ambassadors
In response to the E3's "misusing the snapback mechanism" to reinstate previously terminated UN Security Council resolutions, Iran has recalled its ambassadors from Germany, France, and the United Kingdom for consultations in Tehran.
Earlier on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi asserted that the E3's efforts to revive UN sanctions against Iran are "null and void" and carry no legal force.
The top diplomat made the remarks while addressing the Security Council following a vote on activating the Snapback Mechanism from the 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran and world powers, a mechanism designed to reinstate previous sanctions previously suspended in accordance with the JCPOA.
