Iran says man who burned Quran long-term Israeli spy
The man who burned a copy of the Muslim Holy book outside the Stockholm Central Mosque works for Israeli intelligence, Iran says.
The Iranian Ministry of Security has revealed details about the relationship between Israeli intelligence and the individual who desecrated the Holy Quran in Sweden, Salwan Momika.
Reliable information indicates that Salwan Momika was born in Iraq in 1986 and started working for the Israeli Mossad in 2019, a statement from the Iranian Ministry of Security said.
Salwan Momika burned a copy of the Quran on June 28 outside Stockholm's main mosque. Momika was granted a permit from Swedish authorities before carrying out his act.
It further stated that Momika was involved in transferring information from Iraqi resistance factions to Israeli intelligence in a bid to sow discord in Iraq.
After his stay in Sweden, according to Iranian security, Momika continued to serve the Israeli occupation under his new circumstances.
Iranian security confirmed that the act of violating the sanctity of the Holy Quran was meticulously designed and executed to create a dominant media wave and overshadow the horrifying and widespread crimes committed by the Israeli occupation, particularly in the oppressed and resistant Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank.
Additionally, it stated that "Israel", in parallel with every massacre it commits, carries out a parallel project to divert attention from its "demonic" steps, emphasizing that documents and evidence regarding such tactics would be released in the future.
In early June, Iran summoned Sweden's chargé d'affaires to object to the burning of the holy book in the European country, approved by Stockholm under the guise of "freedom of speech".
The repeated incident spread outrage across Muslim countries and was highly denounced by its prominent figures and top institutions.
Upon summoning the Swedish diplomat, Iran strongly condemned the act of sacrilege against the most important of Islamic sanctities.
