Al-Mashat: Iranian ambassador to Sanaa martyr of US blockade
Chair of the Supreme Political Council in Yemen Mahdi al-Mashat offers his condolences over the passing of the Iranian ambassador to Sanaa, Hassan Irloo, from COVID-19.
Yemeni Supreme Political Council leader Mahdi al-Mashat offered his condolences to the Iranian people over the death of Ambassador Hassan Irloo after he died from COVID-19.
Al-Mashat blamed Irloo's death on the reluctance and delay of the US-led coalition countries in allowing him to be flown from Sanaa airport led to his death, declaring him a martyr of the unjust US blockade imposed on Yemen.
"The weak medical capabilities in Sanaa were unable to help the Iranian ambassador," attributing the lack of proper treatment to the blockade imposed by the countries of the US-Saudi aggression.
Al-Mashat praised "the noble positions of the late Iranian ambassador, as he was an example of a person devoted to his work and a diplomat who aims to strengthen the relationship between the two brotherly countries and peoples, benefiting from his knowledge and his assumption of responsibility for Yemen’s affairs in the Iranian Foreign Ministry before his appointment."
An Iran-Iraq war veteran
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has announced that its Ambassador to Yemen, Hassan Irloo, had passed away from COVID-19 complications, following his delayed repatriation earlier this week from Yemen.
Irloo was due to return earlier for treatment, but delays in cooperation for his evacuation from the war-torn country worsened his health condition.
The late Ambassador is an Iran-Iraq war veteran who had sustained injuries from chemical weapon attacks by Iraq. He began his diplomatic mission to Yemen following years of service at the Foreign Ministry and was sanctioned in December 2020 by former US President Donald Trump.
