Iranian delegation arrives in Russia ahead of Raisi's visit
A large delegation of Iranian officials has arrived in Moscow in preparation for the visit of President Ebrahim Raisi.
Al Mayadeen reporter quoted informed sources as saying, "A large delegation of Iranian officials and businessmen have arrived in Moscow in preparation for the visit of President Ebrahim Raisi" on the 19th of January.
The reporter said, "Members of the Iranian delegation are holding talks in relevant Russian institutions and ministries on developing cooperation between the two countries," noting that "military-technical cooperation is at the top of the agenda of the Russian-Iranian summit."
"Raisi considers his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin one of the most prominent world leaders and intends to achieve a strategic breakthrough in relations with Russia," she added.
Earlier today, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh said that Raisi will hold a detailed meeting with his Russian counterpart in Moscow.
"There are various issues in the fields of culture, politics, and technology on the agenda," said an Iranian spokesperson.
On December 28, Iranian government Spokesperson Ali Bahador Jahromi announced that Raisi "will visit Russia at the beginning of the new year" at the invitation of Putin.
A few days ago, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that "our relations with Iran are important, and the agenda of bilateral relations will be reviewed during the Moscow summit between the two presidents."
"It is time to resume high-level contacts, as initially, these contacts were close and regular contacts, but they also fell victim to the outbreak of the Coronavirus," Lavrov said, adding that iIn the first place, its importance lies in the need to make an inventory of our entire agenda, taking into account the changes in the Iranian leadership."
