Iranian intelligence services dismantle 6 Mossad-linked groups
The Iranian Intelligence Ministry says it dismantled a group linked to Mossad that attempted to take advantage of the riots to assassinate a military official.
The Public Relations Office of the Iranian Intelligence Ministry confirmed on Tuesday the arrest of at least 13 members of "espionage and terrorist" groups linked with the Israeli occupation's Mossad spy agency.
In a statement, the Intelligence Ministry indicated that a total of six Mossad operational groups have been detected in Iran in the past few weeks.
The Iranian Ministry highlighted that 23 operational and logistical elements of those groups have been identified in the provinces of Tehran, Isfahan, Yazd, West Azarbaijan, and Golestan, 13 of whom were inside Iran and arrested, and their equipment has been seized.
According to the Iranian Intelligence Minister, the key leader of a Mossad group was located in a European country and established contact with the agents inside Iran via Instagram and WhatsApp.
The Ministry pointed out that the group attempted to take advantage of the recent riots in the country to assassinate a military official, conduct acts of sabotage, and transfer huge quantities of explosives to Iran from the southern sea borders, noting that all of the group's members have been identified and arrested.
The Iranian Ministry deemed the successful counter-espionage operation as the second biggest defeat that the Israeli occupation has suffered in the intelligence and operational sphere in less than six months.
Tehran's Security Minister Esmail Khatib said in November 2022 that it became clear in the recent events that the Israeli occupation was responsible for implementation, the UK media was responsible for sponsoring, and Saudi Arabia was responsible for financial support.
On his part, Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi revealed in mid-November that the leaders of the recent riots in Iran received training in seven countries.
In October 2022, the Iranian Intelligence Ministry and the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps' intelligence wing revealed that intelligence obtained by Tehran indicates that the CIA and allied intelligence services planned a conspiracy in Iran against the Islamic Republic.
