Iranian MoFA: US principal defendant for the violation of human rights
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson stresses that Washington’s airdropping humanitarian aid into Gaza would not shield its unwavering support to the Israeli occupation's crimes in the Strip.
Iran has condemned the United States' utilization of human rights as a tool, stressing that Washington is the main defendant in violations of human rights in the world and "Israel’s" months-long crimes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani shared the above-mentioned statement in a post on his X social media account today, following what he called a recent US-instructed report by the United Nations alleging that the Islamic Republic of Iran committed what it claimed to be “crimes against humanity” during foreign-backed riots in Iran in 2022.
“By preemptively activating their propaganda machine concerning human rights in Iran, American authorities will not be able to expunge the stain of oppression and the US complicity in the genocide and mass murders inflicted upon the oppressed Palestinian population in Gaza and the West Bank,” Kanaani stressed.
“In the collective conscience of humanity and global public opinion, America stands as the principal defendant for the violation of various human rights and humanitarian laws, owing to its involvement in the provision of equipment and arms to the Zionist regime,” he added.

Performative and dangerous attempts
Kaanai also highlighted that Washington’s step to airdrop humanitarian aid into Gaza would not shield its unwavering support to the Israeli occupation's crimes in the Strip.
“The ostentatious and hypocritical display by the United States regarding its endeavors to supply and deliver food to the Palestinians fails to mitigate the undeniable reality of its unwavering support for the war crimes committed by the Zionist regime,” he emphasized.
“The politicization and instrumentalization of human rights and international human rights mechanisms constitute an inherent aspect of American foreign policy reality,” Kanaani added.
US shields 'Israel' from scrutiny, violations with unlimited weapons
The general public has remained in the dark regarding up to nearly $1 billion in US military aid to "Israel", Responsible Statecraft reported on March 13.
The small weapons transfers to "Israel" happened since it is not required by law to notify Congress of any transfer that falls below the $25 million threshold, which the US has been delivering since October 7.
Such reports have been corroborated by The Washington Post, which released a similar report concerning how the US approved and executed more than 100 arms deals and foreign military sales to the Israeli regime since the onset of the war on Gaza in October.
The Post confirmed that only two foreign military sales to the Israeli occupation have been publicly disclosed since the war on Gaza began.
According to former officials, such transfers have been made in the past for many reasons, and only approximately 2% of weapons transfers exceed the threshold for notification to Congress.
Additionally, many of those weapons were most likely pre-positioned in the occupation before the war. "Israel" holds a stockpile of American weaponry on its territory, to which it has special access.
Officials report that the US efforts to protect "Israel" from human rights limitations and ensure its continuous access to military funding are far more extensive than any other.
