Iraq, Jordan, Egypt FMs meet in Baghdad
The Foreign Ministers of Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt meet in Baghdad to discuss the impact of the war in Ukraine on the region.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein agreed on Monday with Egyptian FM Sameh Shoukry and Jordanian FM Ayman Safadi to consistently hold meetings and strengthen trilateral cooperation between their countries.
Safadi said Jordan will begin to provide Iraq with electricity in early 2023.
During a press conference held after the meeting, Hussein said that they all discussed joint efforts to face challenges and discuss the impact of the war in Ukraine on the region.
Shoukry: We are working on enforcing Iraq's position
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said that this visit to Iraq is an opportunity to strengthen trilateral support so that Iraq can regain its position in the region and the world.
Shoukry stressed that all three countries are working on uniting their views in order to face challenges, noting that linking all three countries' electricity grids has reached advanced stages.
Safadi: Jordan's security is tied to Iraq's
Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi declared that Amman will stand shoulder to shoulder with Iraq amid its challenges, asserting that Jordan's security is tied to Iraq's.
He also said that the Palestinian cause was brought up in the discussions.
