Sources in the Iraqi Islamic Resistance confirmed to Al Mayadeen that it claimed responsibility for targeting the US forces in Iraq at the Ain al-Asad and Harir bases.

The sources said that the Iraqi Islamic Resistance conducted "operations targeting US forces in Ain al-Assad and Harir in Iraqi Kurdistan."

The sources in the Islamic Resistance added to Al Mayadeen, "We threaten the US forces with more operations."
In the same context, the Reuters news agency reported that the "U.S. military thwarted an attack targeting its forces in Iraq early on Wednesday, intercepting two drones before they could strike," explaining that this indicates that the Iraqi Resistance factions have begun implementing their threats to target US interests in the country. This is against the backdrop of the United States' support for the Israeli occupation entity in its war on the Gaza Strip."
The agency explained, citing two US officials who informed about the attack, and who declined to specify the Iraqi party that the US suspected of carrying it out, that the attack was the first of its kind on US forces in Iraq in more than a year.
Reuters indicated that Washington has raised the level of alert among its forces in Iraq, in anticipation of possible attacks by Iraqi Resistance factions and in light of a sharp escalation in tension in the region due to the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
Iraqi factions vowed that they "will not stand by and watch the genocide taking place against the Palestinians in Gaza."
Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces chief Faleh al-Fayyad said in an interview with Al Mayadeen on Saturday that Iraq will carry out "all duties towards the Palestinians, whether at the level of aid or at the military level."
"Operation Al-Aqsa Flood showed the Israeli occupation as shaken, and the United States is a key accomplice in the [Israeli] occupation's crimes," he said. "The Resistance's actions are all a reaction to the occupation's crimes."
