IRGC dismantles Jaish al-Adl terror cell in Iran's south
The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps dismantles a terrorist cell in the country's southeast after bombing one of its facilities in Pakistan days earlier.
The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps in the Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan dismantled a Jaish al-Adl terror cell that was planning a terrorist attack, the Tasnim news agency reported.
The IRGC forces carried out an operation that killed one of the terrorists, while the competent authorities are currently in pursuit of the rest of the cell's members, the Iranian state news agency added.
"The authorities confiscated a large amount of weapons, munitions, and explosives slated for use in a major terrorist operation," it added.
This comes on the heels of a similar operation that took place on Monday, wherein Iranian Police Chief Brigadier General Ahmadreza Radan announced that the security forces in Iran have successfully identified and apprehended the four main individuals sought in connection with a terrorist attack on the police headquarters in Rask County, located in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan last month.
Radan reported that the terrorists were ambushed and apprehended in recent days through an operation conducted by counter-terrorism police units. He highlighted that this successful operation dealt a significant blow to the Pakistan-based so-called Jaish al-Adl terror group, which had claimed responsibility for the attack.
Terrorist activity
The police chief mentioned that various firearms and devices intended for terrorist activities were confiscated from the detainees, emphasizing that a thorough investigation is currently underway, and the findings will be made public once the process is completed.
The IRGC specified that its target included "gatherings of terrorists linked to the terrorist operations carried out in Iran recently."
