ISIS leader killed, new one appointed: Reports
The terrorist organization ISIS announces the death of its leader Abu Al-Hassan Al-Hashemi Al-Qurashi and the appointment of a successor.
The leader of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS), Abu Al-Hassan Al-Qurashi, was eliminated, IS spokesman announced Thursday.
No details about the operation that resulted in the leader's killing have been provided.
Abu Al-Hussein Al-Husseini Al-Qurashi has been appointed the new leader of IS, according to the terrorist organization's statement.
Abu Al-Hassan Al-Qurashi led IS after his predecessor, Abu Ibrahim Al-Hashimi Al-Qurashi, was eliminated in February 2022, in an operation carried out by the US military in northern Syria that Biden announced.
Back then, Biden confirmed in a statement that a US special forces counter-terrorism operation in northwest Syria targeted the ISIS leader.
Al-Qurashi replaced his predecessor, Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, following the latter's killing in a similar raid in October 2019.
