After an extremist group burned the Turkish flag and the Holy Quran in front of the Turkish embassy in the Danish capital, several Islamic countries issued statements condemning this act.

Turkey: We cannot accept this act

The Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the "despicable attack" that took place in Denmark, against a copy of the Quraan and the Turkish flag.

The Ministry announced, in a statement, that it condemns "in the strongest terms the despicable attack on our holy book, the Holy Qur'an, and our glorious flag in Denmark."

"We cannot in any way accept this despicable act, which constitutes a hate crime, and we cannot accept that it is permitted under the name of freedom of expression," the statement added.

"This action, which took place in the month of Ramadan, showed once again and clearly that Islamophobia, discrimination, and xenophobia are reaching alarming levels in Europe, and that no lessons have been learned from the past."

In the statement, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on "the Danish authorities to take the necessary measures against the perpetrators of this hate crime, and to take concrete measures to prevent such provocations, which target social cohesion and the culture of peaceful coexistence."

Iran: spreading hatred and extremism and promoting violence will endanger peaceful coexistence

Furthermore, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani condemned the violation of the sanctity of the Holy Quran by an extremist group in Denmark during the holy month of Ramadan.

Kanaani warned of the recurrence and increase of insults against the Holy Qur'an and the religious sanctities of Muslims in some European countries, slamming the silence of "human rights advocates"  against these actions.

Kanani also noted that "spreading hatred and extremism and promoting violence will endanger peace, peaceful coexistence among the nations, and global security."

"We expect the Danish authorities to take responsibility and revoke permits for such sacrilegious acts under the pretext of freedom of expression," Kanaani added.

Pakistan: The recurrence of such wilful and vile acts is a troubling manifestation of growing hatred

Additionally, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran in Denmark, describing it as a "despicable act."

The statement also stressed that the right to freedom of expression cannot be used as a "cover to deliberately defame any holy book or figures of any religion."
