Israeli aggression on Lebanon killed 2,593, wounded 12,119
The Israeli occupation's aggression on Lebanon has claimed the lives of thousands, with thousands of others wounded as the onslaught protracts and expands to include more areas.
The ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanon has killed 2,593 people and wounded 12,119 others since the start of the offensive on October 8, 2023, the Public Health Emergency Operations Center, part of the Ministry of Public Health, announced on Thursday.
The Israeli occupation forces have expanded their assaults over the past month, targeting civilians across Lebanon—from southern villages to the Bekaa, Baalbek, northern regions, and even the capital, Beirut, along with its Southern Suburb.
This evening, an Al Mayadeen correspondent in southern Lebanon reported seven Israeli airstrikes on the town of Kfar Chouba. The Israeli Air Force also launched attacks on the al-Baraka neighborhood in the town of Ansar in southern Lebanon, and on the outskirts of Housh al-Rafqa, near Beit Shama.
The aggression continued with three airstrikes on the town of Tayr Harfa in southern Lebanon. These raids destroyed residential buildings and commercial properties, particularly in the Hawza al-Ilmiyah neighborhood of the town of Toul.
Massacre in Hellanieh, Bekaa
In the Marjayoun district, the town of Khiam was also struck by Israeli air raids, causing significant damage. Further north, an Al Mayadeen correspondent reported widespread destruction in the town of al-Baysariyah in the Saida district, southern Lebanon, following Israeli strikes.
In Baalbek, the Israeli warplanes targeted the town of al-Za'arir, within the vicinity of the Beit Mashik farms, and bombed a house in the al-Dhalil neighborhood of Bodai, west of Baalbek. Another strike was reported on the outskirts of the city near the town of Nahla.
One of the deadliest attacks occurred in the town of Hellanieh in the Bekaa region, where Israeli forces committed a massacre that claimed the lives of five people, leaving numerous others wounded. Search operations are still underway for one missing individual trapped under the rubble of the destroyed building.
An Al Mayadeen correspondent confirmed that five bodies were retrieved from the wreckage in Hellanieh, while the search for the missing persons continued. Additionally, seven more people, including two children, were killed, and 14 others were injured in an Israeli airstrike on a house in the town of al-Khadr in Baalbek.
Earlier on Thursday, the Lebanese Army announced in a statement that three soldiers had been killed in an overnight Israeli airstrike, including Major Mohammed Farhat. A video of Farhat circulated months ago showed him preventing Israeli forces from encroaching on Lebanese territory by attempting to place barbed wire beyond the Blue Line, forcing them to retreat. The army had also reported two additional soldiers killed and three others injured in a separate Israeli strike targeting an army post in the town of Kafra, southern Lebanon.
A few days ago, the Israeli military directly targeted a Lebanese Army vehicle in Ain Ebl-Hanin, killing three soldiers.
On October 11, the Lebanese Army also announced that two of its soldiers were killed and three others were wounded in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a military position in the town of Kafra, South Lebanon.
