Israeli and German navies agree on two-year working plan
In recent developments, the Israeli and German navies have forged a two-year working plan, highlighting ongoing cooperation despite the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
The Israeli and German navies have agreed on a two-year working plan, as per a statement from the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) on Telegram Friday.
"As the Israeli Navy continues operating in multiple arenas in the ‘Swords of Iron’ War, today (Thursday) a two-year Joint Working Plan was signed by RADM Ulrich Reineke, Director of Plans and Policy on behalf of the German Navy, and RADM Guy Goldfarb, Deputy Commander in Chief and Chief of Staff on behalf of the Israeli Navy," the IOF said.
During the visit, Rear Adm. Reineke reportedly received detailed operational briefings on the Israeli Navy’s activities and attended an exhibition.
This comes as the Israeli genocide on Gaza continues unabated for 273 days, killing more than 38,000 Palestinians, mainly women and children.
Poll shows majority of Germans oppose Israeli conduct in war on Gaza
Last month, a study conducted by the Forsa Institute for the weekly Stern revealed that the majority of Germans are opposed to "Israel's" war on Gaza.
A study conducted earlier in June revealed that 61% of respondents rejected Israeli actions, with only one-third still supporting them. According to Stern, public opinion appears to have swung to its polar opposite in approximately half a year.
Stern revealed that last November, barely a month after the war began, the majority of Germans supported "Israel", citing findings from another Forsa study. According to the report, 62% supported the Israeli military action at the time of the survey and 31% opposed it.
The shift has been apparent across all parties in Germany, including Social Democrats, coalition partners, the Greens, and the largest opposition force, the center-right Union, along with some of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) opposing Israeli military action.
Since the start of the Israeli war on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, Germany reiterated "Israel's" so-called "right to self-defense" and cracked down on pro-Palestinian voices that call for a ceasefire using antisemitism as a pretext. The Federal Government of Germany has always been a staunch supporter of the Israeli occupation entity, justifying this support as a compelling moral obligation and a form of reparation for Nazi Germany's Holocaust.
