The commander of the Israeli Air Force, Amikam Norkin, returned today after a three-day visit to the United States, according to the Israeli Air Force's Twitter account.
As noted in the tweet, Norkin met with the Commander of the US Air Force, General Charles Brown, and the Commander of the Marine Corps, who is in charge of key industries. Brown is also an important partner in strengthening the Israeli Air Force and supporting its operational capabilities.
Norkin and Brown covered future tanker and F-35 projects, as well as operational coordination between the forces during their discussion. Brown also underlined the importance of collaboration between the US and Israeli air forces, particularly operational cooperation, among other things.
The visit was undertaken in light of recent strategic changes in the Middle East and the necessity for tight collaboration with foreign partners, which has become an important component of the IAF's 'activity' in the area, according to a tweet from the Israeli Air Force.
According to Israeli media, the US military has opted not to purchase "Israel's" Iron Dome missile defense system to prevent air threats.
Washington chose the US Leidos-owned Dynetics launcher with a system called "Enduring Shield," which has 360-degree detection and can fire at several threats at the same time, according to a report in The Jerusalem Post.
