Israeli expat in Berlin kicks out Ambassador from his store
An Israeli residing in Berlin has kicked out the occupation's ambassador to Germany from his café as a political statement.
An Israeli living in Berlin made a political statement by asking the Israeli occupation's ambassador to Germany, Ron Prosor, to leave his café. Avi Berg, the owner of Café Dodo, stated on Facebook that he took this action because he believes the ambassador represents a policy that considers any criticism of "Israel" as anti-Semitic.
Berg contends that such a policy is manipulative and damaging.
He further clarified that he directed his action towards the ambassador as an official representative of "Israel", as he perceives the Israeli embassy to be pressuring German institutions and media to suppress criticism of "Israel" and label it as antisemitic. He mentioned that this diplomatic approach is widespread but has a particularly strong impact in Germany.
A spokesperson for the Israeli Foreign Ministry commented on the incident, stating that Prosor was unaware of Berg's political stance when he visited the café.
This comes days after organizations from seven nations, most of whom are staunch supporters of the Israeli occupation, came together to form a "global task force" that would try and tackle "anti-Semitism", though not much was specified regarding this topic, as it is well-known that the organizations would spin the narrative and make the whole thing revolve around defending the Israeli occupation and attacking occupied Palestine.
The initiative will "unite leaders from the world's most significant Jewish communities to devise coordinated strategies, discuss mutual challenges, and share best practices," a statement published Tuesday by the J7 Global Task Force Against Antisemitism said.
However, the list of the task force's members raises many questions about this so-called fight against anti-Semitism, as it includes the notorious Anti-Defamation League, a notorious organization known for its Zionist ideals, support for the Israeli occupation, and vilification of Pro-Palestine activists.
The term anti-Semitism refers to any kind of hostility, prejudice, or discrimination against Jews. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, anti-Semitism is defined as [an act of] hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious, ethnic, or racial group.
However, in 2016, a new definition of anti-Semitism has been reintroduced by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, which includes among its “contemporary examples” of anti-Semitism “denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination".
