Israeli media: Netanyahu 'Control Freak' Obsessed about Image
Israeli media reveals that former Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu is a "control freak when it comes to his media coverage.
The main prosecution witness in former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's corruption trial has described the Israeli politician as a "control freak" concerned with his public image.
After Netanyahu's defense attorneys requested time to analyze new material, his testimony was postponed for a week. Netanyahu's wife, Sara, was said to have accepted an expensive bracelet as a gift from two rich pals, Hollywood producer Arnon Milchan and Australian billionaire James Packer, according to material provided last week to the court, as reported by the Guardian.
According to "Israel News 24," the prosecution witness, Nir Hefetz, asserted, in his opening testimony, today, that Netanyahu was “way beyond a control freak” with press coverage, to the extent that he demanded to keep abreast of media tactics during national security meetings.
Netanyahu appears before the court on corruption charges. The judicial cases addressed to Netanyahu and others are known as "Case 1000", "Case 2000" and "Case 4000".
Netanyahu's cases
Case 1000 is also known as the subsidy file. Netanyahu is accused of obtaining privileges worth about 700,000 shekels (about $200,000) from businessmen, during his prime ministership. in the details, Netanyahu and his wife got significant gifts and presents from various rich contacts over the years. The Case 1000 was officially launched in December 2016.
As for Case 2000 known as the Netanyahu-Mozes affair, it concerns recordings of Netanyahu's talks with Arnon Mozes, chairman and editor of Yedioth Ahronoth, one of "Israel's" most widely circulated newspapers. Netanyahu and Mozes discussed measures that could affect Yedioth's main competitor, "Israel" Hayom, during their meetings.
Case 3000 involves people with professional and personal relationships with Netanyahu regarding an agreement between "Israel" and Germany to purchase three Dolphin-class submarines and four Sa'ar 6-class corvettes.
The relationship between telecoms operator Bezeq and its regulator, the communication ministry, which was led by Netanyahu at the time, is the subject of Case 4000.
