Israeli Media: US Aid to Lebanon for Restrictions on Hezbollah
Israeli media reported that the Israeli occupation asked the United States to provide aid to Lebanon in return for "restricting Hezbollah."
The Israeli "Yedioth Ahronoth" revealed that Israeli figures asked the US ambassador to UN Linda Thomas during its ongoing visit to "Israel" to tie granting US aid to Lebanon with imposing several restrictions on Hezbollah.
The Israeli occupation demanded that Hezbollah fighters be "pushed away from Lebanese border" and that the Lebanese army pledges it would make it difficult for Hezbollah to fabricate precision missiles, in addition to "prohibiting the smuggling of combat equipment to Lebanon."
According to the Israeli daily, the Israeli parties in question expressed their concerns to the US ambassador about the US weapons Washington is providing the Lebanese army with, saying they would be "leaked to Hezbollah to use against the Israeli army."
US President Joe Biden had signed in September a presidential decree that allowed US State Secretary Antony Blinken to grant immediate aid worth $47 million to the Lebanese army.
