Israeli Occupation Confines Mohammed al-Arida in Difficult Prison Conditions
Lawyers Khaled Mahajna and Karim Ajwa are following up on the conditions of the prisoner, Mohammed al-Arida, reporting the difficult conditions he is going through.
The Palestinian Commission of Detainees' and Ex-Detainees' Affairs announced that the Israeli occupation court rejected its legal requests to allow the 6 prisoners who gained their freedom from Gilboa prison to attend court and hear the indictments against them next Sunday.
The commission quoted its lawyer, Saadeh Jamil, as stressing that the prisoners have the right to be present in the courtroom to hear the indictments.
According to the commission, a court session will be held for reading the indictment via video and includes the prisoners who gained their freedom: Mahmoud al-Arida, Mohammed al-Arida, Zakaria Al-Zubaidi, Yaqoub Qadri, Ayham Kamamji, and Munadel Nafi'at, in addition to five other detainees in the case.
In this context, the commission mentioned that the occupation Prison Authority in Askalan is isolating prisoner Mohammed al-Arida in difficult conditions since transferred yesterday, Thursday, from Al-Jalama investigation center.
For his part, Lawyer Khaled Mahajna explained that after concluding the investigations, all prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement.
The commission's lawyer, Karim Ajwa, confirmed that the prison administration is holding al-Arida captive in an isolated cell, in a very narrow and dirty space.
He added that the isolation cell is monitored by cameras, even inside the bathroom, in an act that violates privacy.
Ajwa confirmed that al-Arida may begin an open hunger strike in the upcoming days in case the imposed restrictions and inhumane conditions continue.
