Israeli Security Official Calls Agreement with Morocco "Strategic Alliance"
Top security official says the security agreement signed by Israeli Security Minister Benny Gantz in Morocco opens the door to "intel sharing and joint drills."
Head of the Israeli Security Ministry’s Political-Military Bureau, Zohar Palti, says the agreement signed by Gantz will create a ‘strategic alliance of knowledge between Jerusalem and Rabat', claiming that “Morocco has been fighting terror on a number of fronts over the years, and it is a country that has fought Al-Qaeda.”
Palti said that the “memorandum of understanding” that Gantz signed allows intel sharing and joint drills.
In parallel, Gantz inspected the Paratroopers Brigade of the Moroccan Armed Forces, accompanied by his Moroccan counterpart and the Moroccan FM and in the presence of top security and intelligence services officials.
Commenting on the “unprecedented” event, Palti said, “We are in the midst of an unprecedented event and one of the high points of the Abraham Accords, a plane carrying a military delegation, including soldiers in uniform and a ‘defense’ minister that lands in Rabat openly and meets with the military and diplomatic leadership of Morocco; this is an event we have never seen before.”
This agreement “will allow us to assist them with whatever they need from us, in accordance — of course — with our own interests. We have a strategic alliance of knowledge,” said Zohar Palti.
