Republican vice-presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance stated on Tuesday that a potential second Trump administration would back the implementation of the death penalty for drug dealers, arguing that they are responsible for far more deaths than violent criminals.

"We are going to support the death penalty for drug dealers, because they kill far more people than some of the most violent and vicious criminals," Vance said in his remarks during a campaign event at Kenosha, Wisconsin. "We've got to have real penalties for people who are killing our kids and poisoning our communities."

As part of his proclaimed policy to combating crime in the US, Vance has pledged to shield police officers from what he describes as "frivolous lawsuits", which he claims hinder them from effectively performing their duties.

Vance's stance aligns with the broader Republican platform of reinforcing law and order, which includes ending sanctuary cities, deporting violent illegal immigrants, and resisting what they view as lenient criminal justice reforms.

His legislative record and campaign rhetoric reflect a commitment to policies that crack down on crime and strengthen law enforcement, aligning with the priorities outlined in the Trump campaign's agenda for the upcoming election.
