Jinnah Hospital: Imran Khan has 16 wounds on his legs
Following an attempted assassination on former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, he was transferred to Jinnah Hospital where he received treatment.
Imran Khan, the former Pakistani prime minister, was shot in both his legs during a protest march organized by his Tehreek-e-Insaf Party (PTI), according to the Jinnah Hospital's administration on Friday. Khan was admitted to the hospital after the incident.
According to medics, the PTI leader's right and left leg bones were just barely hit by the bullet.
Khan was reportedly transported to the hospital unconscious and with up to 16 wounds on his legs, according to the hospital administration.
Khan had survived an attempted assassination on Thursday during a political rally in Gujranwala, on his way to his final destination, Islamabad.
Pakistani news channel Geo stated that Imran Khan was injured in the leg after an anonymous attacker shot his convoy, leading to the injury of five other people from his party. Raouf Hasan, one of Khan's aides, told AP that the ex-PM's condition is now stable after a video emerged on social media showing the attacker aiming at Khan in the crowd.
PM Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attempted assassination and asked the Interior Minister to investigate it.
Khan intended to gather his supporters and regain popularity, succeeding in attracting a large crowd that demanded early elections be held after Khan resigned due to a no-confidence vote last April.
