Jordan recalls ambassador to 'Israel' amid genocide in Gaza
Jordan joins the list of countries condemning Israeli atrocities by recalling its ambassador to the Israeli occupation.
Jordan has announced its decision to recall its ambassador to "Israel", as confirmed by the country's Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.
"Deputy Prime Minister and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi made a decision [Wednesday] to immediately recall the Jordanian ambassador to Israel," the ministry said in a statement.
In addition to recalling its ambassador, Jordan's Foreign Ministry instructed officials to inform the Israeli Foreign Ministry that it is not possible for the Israeli ambassador, who had previously departed Jordan, to return to his diplomatic post.

Failed ceasefire
A week ago, Jordan led an assembly of Arab nations to push for a humanitarian truce at the UN General Assembly.
The resolution calls for "an immediate, durable and sustained humanitarian truce leading to a cessation of hostilities", compliance with international law, protection of civilians, and rescinding of the order to evacuate northern Gaza.
Jordan also added that the release of captives must be unconditional.
Although the motion was passed at the UN in New York by 120 votes to 14 oppositions, and 45 countries abstained, the US and "Israel" refused to comply with it, saying that doing so would constitute a form of surrender to Hamas.
"Just as the US would not agree to a ceasefire after the bombing of Pearl Harbor or after the terrorist attack of 9/11, Israel will not agree to a cessation of hostilities with Hamas after the horrific attacks of October 7," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told reporters on Monday.
"Calls for a ceasefire are a call for Israel to surrender to Hamas, to surrender to terrorism, to surrender to barbarism. This will not happen."
