Khatibzadeh: Azeri President's Claims are "Fabricated"
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh tersely believes that putting forward media accusations only serves the interests of "Israel".
During the conference of countries with common interests, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzad called Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's startling claims against Iran "false and fabricated."
"Posing such media charges only serves the objectives of the Zionist entity, which is predicated on a detrimental impact on the fraternal relations between the Iranian and Azerbaijani peoples," said Khatibzadeh in an official statement.
The Iranian spokesman also emphasized Iran's role in combating drug smuggling, explaining that it has suffered thousands of casualties over the past four decades in combating this heinous trend.
Khatibzadeh reiterated the two peoples' excellent brotherly relations, adding it appears that Baku intentionally produced unfounded media remarks, noting they will be responded to in due time.
Shamkhani Warns Aliyev of Demon Traps
On his account, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Shamkhani, considered the "false and unconstructive statements" of the Azeri President, citing his lack of interest in the principles and necessities of the neighborhood.
Shamkhani warned Aliyev of falling "into demon traps."
In a tweet, he commented on the false allegations of the Azerbaijani President, taking a jab at his credibility being degraded.
During a summit conference of countries with shared interests, Ilham Aliyev allegedly accused Armenia of collaborating with Iran in drug smuggling to Europe.
Iran and Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministers discussed, in a phone call on Tuesday, the need to resolve the latest issues between the two countries through dialogue and cooperation, in a calm and friendly atmosphere.
Furthermore, Tasnim news agency reported that Amirabdollahian stressed the importance of mutual respect and maintaining the independence and sovereignty of the lands of both countries, adding that Tehran and Baku are bound by age-old relations.
On his part, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that relations with Iran are friendly and any problems must be resolved through dialogue.
Bayramov suggested that customs officials in the two countries commence a dialogue to resolve the issue of the Iranian goods transit, affirming that he will work to release the Iranian truck drivers who were detained by Azerbaijan in September.
