Khatibzadeh: Saudi Arabia ready to resume diplomatic representation
The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirms that the Iraqi PM Mustafa Al-Kadhimi conveyed a message from Riyadh regarding the follow-up of the next round of discussions with the Kingdom in Baghdad.
On Monday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi discussed the date of the next round of dialogue with Riyadh, which will be at the diplomatic level.
Iran's FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian appreciated Iraq's constructive role in mediation between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
In a press conference today, Saeed Khatibzadeh, the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, stated that Saudi Arabia is ready to resume diplomatic representation between the two nations.
Khatibzadeh pointed out that the dialogue between the Kingdom and the Islamic Republic will serve the interests of all countries in the region.
The Spokesperson added that the latest developments in northern Iraq and Syria were discussed with the Iraqi PM and that fruitful agreements were reached in regard to economic and political relations.
Iran, according to Amir-Abdollahian, is a well-wisher of the regional nations and supports Baghdad's positive attempts to improve communication on regional issues.
He also mentioned Yemen's continuing ceasefire and expressed Iran's support for its continuation and the end of Yemen's brutal blockade.
According to Amir-Abdollahian, the answer to the regional challenges must come from within the area.

He acknowledged that there were agreements on the substance, form, and topic, and said that the most significant issue in the negotiations was that the US commits to implementing the JCPOA and UN Security Council Resolution 2231, as well as ensuring Iran's economic advantage from the JCPOA.
He stated that the following round of discussions would be indirect and would address lingering sanctions concerns but not nuclear ones and that nothing would be added to the Vienna agreement or withdrawn from it.
The ball is in the US court, he added, adding that if they respond, there would be a settlement.
He emphasized that all of Iran's previous actions are reversible if the other side fulfills its pledges and that nothing is agreed upon until everything is agreed upon.
Regarding Iran's potential BRICS membership, Khatibzadeh stated that Iran has filed its membership proposal and that President Ebrahim Raisi has been asked to speak at the latest meeting.
He also mentioned Iran-Egypt relations, stating that Tehran supports their development since they benefit both nations, the region, and the Muslim world.
