Kordahi: My Resignation Not Brought Up
Following his meeting with Parliament Speaker, Lebanese Minister of Information George Kordahi says, “I’m not clinging to any ministerial post and I am in no position to challenge anyone.”
The Lebanese Minister of Information, George Kordahi, announced today, Friday, that he did not raise the issue of his resignation during his meeting with Parliament Speaker, Nabih Berri.
Following the meeting in Ain al-Tineh, Beirut, Kordahi said that opinions are divided over the resignation, stressing that no one spoke of guarantees, neither at home nor abroad.
He added, “I’m not clinging to any ministerial post, and I am in no position to challenge anyone, neither the Prime Minister nor the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” noting that "there is no intention to provoke anyone, but the matter was blown out of proportion, and some have exploited what happened to pay lip service to Saudi Arabia."
A few days ago, circles close to the Lebanese Minister confirmed that Kordahi will not resign and that his stance has not changed.
Kordahi’s statements on Yemen caused a row, whereby KSA, the UAE, Bahrain, and Kuwait summoned their ambassadors to Lebanon, while Qatar condemned Kordahi's statements and asked for de-escalation.
In the meantime, Oman announced its regret that relations between Lebanon and a number of Arab countries had gone sour, asking for restraint and de-escalation.
