KSA summit affirms good neighborliness, territorial integrity respect

Jeddah Summit, the final stop of Biden's Middle East tour - which brought together the six members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq - concluded with a plea for the international community to exert strained efforts in order to achieve a peaceful solution in Ukraine.
During his opening remarks earlier today, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said the Summit is being held during a time when the world is facing great challenges.
In the Summit’s final communique, leaders stressed the importance of taking all necessary measures to protect and support refugees and displaced people and to end conflicts to stop human suffering.
The final communique stressed the importance of facilitating the export of grain and food and increasing efforts to support food security in affected countries.
The leaders also expressed their support for efforts to keep the Gulf free of weapons of mass destruction.
The significance of achieving security and stabilizing energy markets was also emphasized. They also mentioned OPEC+'s efforts to stabilize oil markets in a way that benefits both consumers and producers.
On his part, Saudi foreign minister Faisal bin Farhan held a press conference after the Jeddah Summit during which he said the Kingdom’s hand is extended to Iran, claiming that although talks with Tehran have been positive, they have not achieved any results.
In terms of oil production, the Saudi official stated that OPEC+ will continue to assess market needs and take appropriate action.
"At the summit, we did not discuss the issue of oil production. OPEC+ will continue to assess markets and their requirements," he said.
Joint statement
Following the summit, the leaders reaffirmed their shared vision for a peaceful and prosperous region. This necessitates taking all necessary steps to ensure the region's security and stability, as well as developing means of cooperation and integration among its countries, jointly addressing the region's challenges, and adhering to the principle of good neighborliness, mutual respect, and respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
On the issue of Palestine, the leaders also emphasized the need for reaching a just solution to the Palestinian struggle in the face of "Israel" based on the "two-state solution", stressing the importance of the Arab initiative.
Regarding the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, the leaders expressed their support for Egyptian water security, as well as the importance of reaching an agreement on filling and operating the dam within a reasonable time frame, as stipulated in the statements made by the President of the Security Council in 2021 and for a diplomatic solution that serves the interests of all parties and contributes to the region's peace and prosperity.
They also emphasized the "need to step up efforts to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis while preserving Damascus’ unity and sovereignty."
The leaders welcomed "the positive role played by Iraq to facilitate communication and build confidence among the countries of the region," expressing their support for Lebanon's sovereignty, security, and stability, and all the reforms necessary to achieve its economic recovery.
