Kurdish group says KDP sabotaged Nowruz celebrations
The Kurdish National Council described the Kurdish Democratic Party's actions as "disgraceful" as it targeted the Nowruz holiday and all of those celebrating it.
The so-called Kurdish National Council groups declared that members of the Kurdish Democratic Party, one of the biggest "self-administration" Kurdish groups of northeastern regions of Syria, disrupted celebrations of the Nowruz holiday in a town in Qamishli countryside.
In its official statement, the council said that "militants from the Kurdish Democratic Party" used heavy machinery to move soil and garbage to celebration squares attempting to sabotage them.
The statement described this action as "disgraceful" as the Kurdish Democratic Party targeted the Nowruz holiday and all of those celebrating it. It called on the international coalition forces and the United States who, according to the groups, have power and control over the region to intervene and stop these "terrorist acts against the Kurdish people".
Previously the Kurdish National Council said that the "Youth Revolutionary Movement" which belongs to the SDF, US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, attacked its headquarters north of al-Hasakah province by vandalizing and burning it. Back then, the Kurdish National Council also called on the United States to intervene and stop these actions.
The US Embassy in Syria released a statement on social media criticizing the constant attacks on the groups of the Kurdish National Council urging an end to all attacks on the council's offices and engage in fruitful dialogue instead.
This American position is considered a new position, sending messages to the Kurdish "self-administration" groups about the necessity of halting all hostilities by organizations affiliated with the SDF and stopping all attacks on Kurdish National Council parties.
Clashes between US-backed SDF, Turkish-backed factions in Azaz, Afrin
Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported on March 8 that violent clashes erupted in the northern countryside of Aleppo between the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the fighters of the Turkish-backed so-called National Army in the Syrian cities of Azaz and Afrin.
Our correspondent mentioned that National Army militants announced thwarting two infiltration attempts by SDF militants in the Borj Haydar axis in the northwestern countryside of Aleppo and the Azaz southern axis in the northern countryside.
Turkish aircraft have repeatedly targeted SDF headquarters and vehicles in the cities and towns of northern Syria under its control, accusing the US-backed group of a military branch of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) that it deems a terrorist organization.
