Lavrov, Çavuşoğlu Call for Security in Afghanistan
Russian FM has clarified in a statement that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu "called on the main national forces in Afghanistan to ensure security and order as soon as possible."
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today, Wednesday, that Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed the situation in Afghanistan with his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu over the phone, and the two urged the main parties in Afghanistan to ensure security.
"Lavrov and Çavuşoğlu discussed the situation in Afghanistan in detail and expressed their common interest in achieving stability there," said the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.
According to the statement, both sides "called on the main national forces to ensure security and order in the country as soon as possible."
It is worth noting, in this context, that the "Taliban" Movement said on Tuesday, during the Movement's first official press conference since its takeover of the capital, Kabul, that it wants peaceful relations with other countries and will respect women's rights within the framework of Islamic law.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Spokesperson for the Movement, said that "war is now over in Afghanistan," revealing that the "Taliban" has relations with most countries, and hopes that these countries will invest in Afghanistan.
