Lavrov kicks off his MENA tour in Baghdad
The Russian Foreign Minister is expected to visit Sudan, Mauritania, and Mali after Iraq.
On Sunday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Baghdad, according to a Sputnik correspondent.
On Monday, Lavrov is scheduled to meet with the Speaker of the Parliament, Mohammed Halbusi, the Prime Minister, Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani, and his Iraqi counterpart Fouad Hussein.
Baghdad is the starting point of Lavrov's scheduled tour to Middle Eastern and African countries. The Russian FM is expected to visit Sudan, Mauritania, and Mali after Iraq.
The previous trip to Iraq by the Russian Foreign Minister was back in October 2019. He traveled to Baghdad and Erbil, where he met with senior Iraqi and Kurdish leaders and officials.
