At the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterates his insistence that Afghanistan cannot collapse.

Lavrov urges the international community to atone for Afghanistan by paying attention to the mobilization of humanitarian aid and various form of assistance.

"The situation [in Afghanistan] cannot be allowed to collapse again, as this would be too hard for the Afghan people, who have suffered from the presence of NATO for 20 years"

This would not be the first time Russia discusses the need to support Afghanistan and holds the US and its allies responsible for the destruction and collapse of the country. While Taliban has been outlawed since 2003, Russia alongside China has continuously urged them to create an inclusive government.

Lavrov concluded by placing his hopes on Russia’s allies in Tajikistan whose influence extends into northern Afghanistan to continue working alongside Russia and their allies in an attempt to attain joint goals.
