Leaders of the Islamic Jihad Movement Join the Prisoners' Hunger Strike
Leaders of the Islamic Jihad Movement join the prisoners on hunger strike, while the movement's prisoners continue their open strike for the seventh consecutive day.
For the seventh consecutive day, the prisoners of the Islamic Jihad movement proceed with their hunger strike as part of the battle of empty stomachs to confront the procedures of the occupation prisons administration.
The two prisoners, Mohammad al-Amoudi and Hosni Issa escalated their strike in the Ramon occupation prison by refusing to drink water, which lead to the deterioration of their health, forcing the occupation authorities to transfer them to the prison clinic.
The Palestinian prisoner Mohammad Mardawi's health also deteriorated due to his ongoing hunger strike. He developed chronic lung disease after refusing to consume food and medicine.
Moreover, the Secretary-General and members of the Supreme Leadership Council of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad prisoners, who are isolated in the Negev occupation, joined the hunger strike.
On the other hand, the Palestinian prisoner Kayed Fasfous, who is taking part in the hunger strike, is suffering from poor health conditions. In response, the prisoner's brother appealed to human rights and prisoners' institutions to intervene to stop the occupation's aggressive practices.
The Islamic Jihad movement announced yesterday that a series of activities were launched this week in the West Bank, with the aim of supporting the prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons.
Earlier, the movement warned of an escalation in response to the occupation's continued tightening of procedures against the prisoners.
On October 13, the spokesman of the Islamic Jihad Movement in the West Bank, Tarek Ezz El-Din, announced that about 150 prisoners from the movement had begun an open hunger strike, considering that this strike was a step in the gradual escalation decided by the prisoners in the context of their battle against the administration, the Prison Service and the Shin Bet.
Furthermore, negotiations failed between the Prison Service management and the Leading Committee of the Prisoners of Islamic Jihad due to the Prison Service's intransigence, according to reliable sources.
